Our Craftsmanship

At Svartå Heirloom, we are dedicated to crafting exceptional leather goods. Our process emphasizes quality, longevity, and a unique cultural blend. We draw inspiration from nature, ensuring each piece is not only beautiful but also built to last. We use vegetable-tanned leather, polyester thread for UV resistance, and solid brass metal parts to ensure our products are of the highest standard.

About us

Our craftsman is Justin Stoddard, originally from Arizona. He learned how to work with leather from his father, and it's a skill he wants to pass on to his own children, who regularly like to be in the workshop when he is working.

Justin moved to Finland in 2015. He brought his leather hobby, at the time, with him and was asked regularly from friends, family and colleagues to have something made. After trying a few fairs and making things well working he created Svartå Heirloom in 2024. Everything is made to be used. When it is used it gives the leather its own character and story. He loves to see his leather work around Finland and the USA.

Leather

Leather has been used for centuries due to its durability and versatility. It has been used for clothes, storage materials and has even been used for gasket materials in engines. Nowadays it's a byproduct of the meat industry. At Svartå Heirloom we aim to use all of the leather we purchase so that we don't add anything to landfills, even though the leather is vegetable tanned, and as such it is biodegradable.

Who we want to reach

We want to be available to everyone. However, we want to reach especially people who love the outdoors and hunters.
